The Week in Review
Poor neglected Bloggy. Here we go.
I'll have to try and post the pictures later, since Blogger is being a bitch.
Roan’s birthday party-
was a week ago Saturday. It was fun. Unfortunately three of the kids who RSVP’d didn’t show up (this is on top of two of the kids who I already knew couldn’t come) so there was just one kid Roan’s age (her best friend from preschool) and the Beans, who is Sage’s age. Good thing I got a piñata this year. Of course we didn’t take nearly enough pictures. The only crazy thing that happened involved Beans and a piece of dog poop she found in the yard. The incident was equal parts hilarious, horrifying and nauseating. Watching a baby bite a chunk out of a dog poop is a magical thing to see. I hope to remind her of this when she is a teenager.
Movie roundup-
After Roan’s party was dwindling down about 10 or so of us walked over to the neighborhood indie theater to see Little Miss Sunshine. Knowing the manager gets your group and a giant cooler of beer in for free. The movie is great. We were all in tears from laughing so hard. Last week we watched V for Vendetta. This was good, too. I don’t think I’d ever put it on a top favorites list but it is entertaining and on dvd. I watched the Ring Two the other night after “tivoing” it. It’s pretty dumb, not even very scary or suspenseful. After that I watched the Family Stone (is that what it’s called?). Sarah Jessica Parker goes to her boyfriends family for Christmas. It also has Luke Wilson and Clare Danes. This movie is pretty so-so. A good one to fold your laundry while watching. It’s an okay rental.
The Gym-
If you are going to wear the shorts you got at Target that accentuate your ass crack (they do this on EVERYBODY and yes I’ve tried them on and didn’t buy them but several people at my gym did) maybe you should refrain from wearing a THONG with them and sitting in the front of the cycling class. I still don’t get thongs. People say they wear them so they won’t have underwear lines (I still hate the word p*nty) but then you have thong ass. Eww.
I also think I’ve spotted the crazy anorexic who goes to our gym. Actually she doesn’t seem really crazy and actually seems nice enough. She is always on a stationary bike or cardio machine, usually studying some book or manual and she maybe has 2% body fat. This chick is sinewy. She also rides the bike with the seat really high which makes it look like she’s gonna blow out her knees on the thing.
The Fair-
We went to the State Fair yesterday. Pretty much spent 3.5 hours walking around really slow so Roan could keep up. She got a pony ride and a pretty big inflatable Scooby Doo. After we got home, Sage would take the Scooby Doo and Roan would come over and say, “Velma?, Velma?”
My reply, “What Daphne?”
“The monster has Scooby Doo”
“What are we going to do about that?”
“Oh, she’ll let him go in a minute. Velma says jinkies. You’re supposed to say jinkies when you solve the mystery.”
Why the $&$%! do I always have to be Velma?
Back to the fair.... Luci and I had tri-tip sandwiches at $8.50 a pop. Wheee! Luci and Roan shared a chocolate soft serve. Roan had most of a corn dog. Luci and baby Sage helped eat it some of it. Roan went on the pony ride and almost started screaming at first, but then she liked it. She rides like her daddy, which is not a good thing. I could see her, leaning with her weight to one side. This bugs horses. I don’t think poor Commanche (the pony) cared though. He’s stuck walking around in circles all day. Poor bored little ponies. Actually, I don’t have much love for ponies. They are usually little shits and the one I grew up riding was no exception. I can’t even count how many times Lady Jane (she was cute, though) bucked me off or tried to scrape me off on a fence. Once I started riding Horses most of them time and got too big for the pony, I hardly ever ended up landing in the dirt, on the rocks or cement. Uh oh, I’m going off on horse tangent.
Preschool-
Roan is switching over to the morning preschool class. It’s supposed to be a pre-Kindergarten class and a little more structured than the class she was in before. You’d think the teacher would have told me about this, but no, I heard about it from a parent and then overheard the teacher talking to someone else about it when I went to register Roan for the afternoon class. We were on the waiting list for it for a day. I think the class is popular, not just because it’s pre-K, but because of the time slot. Anyway, it’s sad because Roan’s best friends are in the afternoon class. Her Best friend, was born about a week after the Kindergarten cut off date in December, so she may not go to Kindergarten next year (her mom would have to petition or something). So they won’t be in the same preschool class this fall. The other thing is getting Roan there at 9 am is going to be a bitch. That’s usually about the time we’re all getting up. Also, my Warcraft guild raids Tuesday/Thursday nights and her preschool is Mon/Wed/Fri. Life’s a bitch, huh?
